Most boot boxes in a weekender are used as a bench, so their tops are aprox 18" -20" high for seating purposes. The actual depth would depend on what you wish to contain. In our case, the box holds a water tank, pumping apparatus and plumbing. If it will be used only for storage, the depth can be configured to what ever measurement is most comfortable for your butt.
The boxes are also the first step to access the goose area. Usually a second step is necessary, or the edge of a counter top, to easily reach the sleeping area. A removable or flip up second step is usually desirable, to maintain the maximum amount of seating area.
The boot box occupies valuable floor space, so its size and function should be well considered.
