I am looking to purchase a new living quarter trailer, and am trying to decide between a dinette or a sofa. Can anyone tell me which is the most prefered.

When we were looking for a trailer, I wanted a dinette, the boss, a couch. We found our trailer, and when it was new, the original owners had pulled the dinette and installed a couch. We were given the new dinette with the cushions still in plastic.

After using the trailer and its couch a few times, I had to admit that my wife had the better idea, and we sold the dinette. Several years later we have not regretted the decision. Our campers all had dinettes, and we welcomed the change.

One advantage of a dinette is the additional storage you gain under the raised center floor and seats. The disadvantage is constantly setting it up or taking it down, as well as storing and handling the various pieces. It's not as comfortable to sleep or lounge around in, or as convenient for quick naps.

We got the couch and love it. The trailer came with a small fold down table that you can put in front of the couch or you can take the table outside to use. Love that the table is portable, no hole in floor and folds down and stores in the closet in the bathroom. You are knocking knees with the person sitting across from you. WE still have room in the trailer that you can set up a chair at one end of table and the step up for goose makes a nice seat for another person to sit at the table.

We sell slightly more couches than dinettes on new & used LQ trailers. It is a matter of personal preference. There are advantages & disadvantages for both. The above posts can give you an idea of why people like one or the other.

Why not have both if your space can accomodate it. One side of my dinette has a bench and the other has a fold-up wooden chair. The sofa is across from it. My trailer is set-up similar to this one for sale. http://www.horsetrailerworld.com/home/trailerdetail.asp?ID=177272 The person who did this trailer did my LQ too.

I'd take a couch over a dinette any day. You can always bring along tv trays. They dont' require much storage space and you still have your floor space and can take a nap.

A sleeper/sofa is the only way to go. If you are your better half is over 5' tall and 100lbs the dinnet is not worth a dime!
The sofa option comes with a removable table top.
