Summary: SUNDOWNER IS RECALLING 2,185 MY 2003-2006 SUNLITE LQ HORSE TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH A TWO-DOOR REFRIGERATOR MANUFACTURED BY THE DOMETIC CORPORATION. THE REFRIGERATOR MAY HAVE A DEFECT IN THE BOILER TUBE. PRESSURIZED COOLANT SOLUTION COULD BE RELEASED INTO AN AREA WHERE AN IGNITION SOURCE (GAS FLAME) IS PRESENT.
Consequence: IF THIS SOLUTION IS EXPOSED TO AN IGNITION SOURCE UNDER CERTAIN SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES, IT CAN RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE.
Remedy: SUNDOWNER IS WORKING WITH DOMETIC TO REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS (PLEASE SEE 08E032). DOMETIC WILL REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS BY INSTALLING A SECONDARY BURN HOUSING, A THERMAL FUSE, AND A MELT FUSE FREE OF CHARGE. DOMETIC HAS RETAINED STERICYCLE INC. TO MANAGE THIS CAMPAIGN. STERICYCLE WILL ASSIST THE OWNER IN LOCATING DEALERSHIPS OR SERVICE CENTERS AND WILL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH SCHEDULING OF APPOINTMENTS. Isn't this the same recall announced by Dometic earlier this spring? It isn't just horse trailers, it's RVs and campers too. It's about a 15 minute fix at a Dometic servicing dealer. We've fixed several RVs and a few horse trailers. If this is the same recall, Dometic sent an extensive list out earlier to all dealers and has extensively advertised the recall. Or, is this a different model involved?

Yes, it is. But now, it is officially a government monitored recall. Now, it is my understanding, that the burden is being put on the trailer and LQ companies that purchased these products to install in their LQ's.

Yes it is the same recall,however the manufact of the units that the product was installed in are required to send 1 attempt to contact, but Dometic still pays for the recall. 11
