Good morning,

I am slowly but surely getting my LQ done, thanks to the great info on here.

Regarding installing an A/C unit.  My roof is braced and wired for A/C, from the factory.  How easy is it to install by myself?

Tips and techniques are greatly appreciated.

I usually tape off the roof, drill the four corner holes from inside the trailer, then go on top and cut from hole to hole with a jigsaw with a wood blade in it(12-14TPI). Takes a couple big boys to lift the unit onto the roof from the back of a pick-up. Clamp er down and hook up the wires and Ola cool air.

Installing yourself is very easy.   Since your trailer is already setup for the A/C, your only problem will be getting the unit on top of the trailer.   How I got mine up to the top was the loader on my tractor.   Set the unit in the bucket and hoisted it up to the top of the trailer.   From there everything else was a piece of cake.

I was thinking I could use the loader on my tractor to hoist it up there.

Thanks for the info.

Thinking about A/C in the front of our (older) Trail-et, too. This one does NOT have extra bracing or a square frame made for a vent or A/C, and it's the fiberglass roof with the steel square tube bows cast into it.Has anyone done this? I am thinking it would be a piece of cake to do the cutout, but thinking about welding braces in longitudinally (ie, fore and aft direction between the bows) gives me the willies. I'd hate to make a burned up mess of this nice roof!Advice welcomed,

What I usually do is get one from Camping World and they run specials on Installation for 5 dollars. I have done this three times man I would not even try to lift it up there for 5 bucks. There prices on the units are usually better than anyones. Just my 2 cents
