We currently have a 2012 F250 and after having recurrent issues with it, we have decided to punt. However, we also have a 3H LQ, so we are weighing some options. My husband previously had a Toyota Tundra and absolutely loved the truck. After our experience with Ford, he would like another Tundra (considering a 2015). Obviously, if we buy a Tundra, we will have to downsize our trailer, and I am okay with that.My question: Is it safe to pull a modest 2H GN with a Tundra (equipped with the larger engine, towing pkg...the double cab and 6.5 foot bed)? I am considering an aluminum 2H GN with a small dressing room, no LQ, about 3500lbs. Probably another 4-Star.I have been hauling horses for years, and have owned several trailers over the years, but I've always pulled with a 3/4 ton. That said, the 1/2 tons of today seem to equate similar performance of the 3/4 tons of yesteryear. I'm not so much worried about the tow capacity vs. trailer weight, and I am versed in how to determine pin weight vs. payload. I've pulled three different late model tapered nose GNs with two different short bed trucks, so that is not a concern either. I guess I just get the willies when I consider towing a GN with what is technically a 1/2 ton truck. Does anyone have any experience with a late model Tundra and a modest GN? Would this be a safe rig? I am a very experienced hauler and meticulous about a proper towing configuration....but also unfamiliar with anything other than a traditional 3/4 ton. Thanks!

Check the specs on the 20105 Tundra....it appears that the trailer you describe fits within the parameters of the towing capacity of the truck

We have a 2012 Tundra CrewMax. We were pulling a 3H bumper pull with a large dressing room. We just bought a 2015 F350 because the tundra is too light and the springs are too soft. Lots of squat and the tractor trailers move you all over the road!

2015 Towing capacity (lbs.) SR5 4x2 CrewMax 5.7L V8 is only 10100 2015 Towing capacity (lbs.) SR5 4x4 CrewMax 5.7L V8 FFV is only 9800 Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up and loaded properly and that you have any necessary additional equipment. Do not exceed any Weight Ratings and follow all instructions in your Owner’s Manual. The maximum you can tow depends on base curb weight plus the total weight of any cargo, occupants, and added vehicle equipment. “Added vehicle equipment” includes additional standard/optional equipment and accessories added by the manufacturer, dealers, and/or vehicle owners. The only way to be certain of your vehicle’s exact curb weight is to weigh your vehicle without passengers or cargo.
