Hi
We are travelling from northern Alberta, Canada to Casa Grande,Arizona and would like to know where overnight facillities are for our horse. If anyone has done this, please let us know where some places are. We are going south from Lethbridge, through Great Falls on highway 15 to Pocatello and then west to Twin Falls, and south to Wells, Ely, Las Vegas and Kingman. Thanks

Probably your best bet would be to map out how long you want to drive, then pick a town that would have fairgrounds using google and street view. Just about every fairground will make arrangements for a fee or sometimes free to unload and stay the night.

I don't have any info for the other cities you mention, but near Las Vegas, the town of Pahrump has a fair grounds and can be reached at; 775-727-8195 When we were there, they had a fair in October, this town is only a few miles west of Vegas proper, and is a bedroom community of small ranches. the Chamber of Commerce MAY also have some places nearby.toll free...866-722-5800 for the chamber

When we travel long distances with the horse, we use www.horsemotel.com and www.horsetrip.com to find places to overnight. We've been doing this for years and have never had a bad experience. Of course, some places are nicer than others, but then as long as they're safe and clean plus easy to get into and out of, then that's what is important. Call ahead to make sure the owners have room. And if all of that fails and your best laid schedule gets messed up, you can pull into just about any truck stop, go all the way to the back and leave the horses in the trailer and spend the night there. We do that more than another location. If we happen to be close to a fairgrounds, Cabellos or the like, we use them, otherwise, the truck stops or rest areas are good locations. I don't like the rest areas, because most trucks there will leave their trucks running, and it's hard to stay away from them in the confined space.
