This is a Flying L trailer I bought for hauling our mini-horses and ponies. Tag says it was built in Falls City, NE on 12-28-1979.
I thought it was rather unique ( and got a lot of razzing for how it looks like something George Jetson would own ) but when I went to find one like it online...I have been stumped. It really seems to be unique...so far.
I cannot have the only one...can I?
I found this forum during my search and thought if anyone knew where similar trailers might exist, ya'all would be the ones.
I am in the process of getting the side compartments open and the lock mechanisms replaced but other than that everything on this rig works.
Any help is appreciated. Honest. Thanks in advance.

Did it look anything like this?
Or was it the 'normal' round front style?

Thanks for commenting

Hot...hmmm
Not that I recall. It gets used maybe once a year and never has there been a call for hauling in any kind of heat.
W only have minis and ponies so the heat issue is reduced in our case. I will say the side windows open and there are windows in the rear doors also making some air movement possible.
I will get some pics up of the inside from the rear and the thru the front compartment in a day or so.
Thanks again all, for looking

Have seen hundreds of Flying L trailers in the last 40 years and there is a dealer near here, Flying L Trailer Sales-308-778-5543-, in Lewellen, NE that has sold 1,000s. They had a fiberglass roof and except for that, was the typical stock trailer type built in the 70's/80's. I can say I have never seen anything like that. Agree to earlier post that it looks homemade. You might give them a call??? No idea if they still make Flying L's or not.

Don't think it's a home built. The front end looks like it was a layup in a mold. To fabricate a mold that size and detailing, is an expensive tooling proposition. It would not be worth the time and cost for a single layup.

To be honest, I take that as a compliment :)
It works great, dual axle, pulls smoothly and has a front compartment, walk-in exit side doors for when loading the horses, side stowage compartments, and even two swing out thingies that you can set saddles on in the front area.
The hunt is on for info...and the leads gotten here have helped greatly.
Yeah, it's weird but that kinda fits me anyway.
If I have the only one like it in the world, heh, better take good care of it.

you may have an antique or a collectible there way if it works and it is safe than have fun bet people they could not gust the name of the trailer

I wanted to give one last update on my hunt for the info on my trailer.

The man from Flying L Trailer Sales, who started at the company about the time the trailer was built, said he remembered something about a prototype being built...and this must be it.
So my question as to whether anyone has seen one will never be answered 'Yes'. Musta been something the people at Flying L tried when they were still building trailers and abandoned the project. Maybe there was a trailer show it was built special for..like those odd looking 'show' cars you see at the car shows.
Anyway, I do thank all that looked at the photos and those that gave advice on where to look.

Just saw your photos,I've never seen a horse trailer like that.If I saw it in person,I'd mistake it for a camper at first glance! Looks like it fits the bill for your needs. You named it pretty aptly,too!48
