I'm hoping you boys can help me out. The horse trailer (3 horse slant, 5140 pounds empty, dual 6000 pound axles) needs new tires (235/85/16, E). I live in Colorado...so I'm assuming road heat won't be as much a problem as it may be for some of you.
Would you,
1. Get Goodyear Marathons even though they were made in China,
2. Get Carlyles even though they have gotten some pretty bad reviews,
3. Get Michelin XPS Rib even though you can't afford them, or
4. Get a good, LT, E range truck tire with a highway/all season tread.
Thanks in advance for your wisdom and experience.

It is cheaper in the long run to get an excellent trailer tire. Blowouts can damage your fender, brake wiring, scare the heck out of your horses or worse. Two different trail riding buddies had blowouts last year using older and inexpensive tires. One has a damaged fender and the other spent 2K on fixing wiring.

No Chinese, no Firestone Steelex.
Get a good, LT, E range truck tire with a highway/all season tread.
Few people run their tires long enough to wear out the thread. Most tires die of old age first. Unless you drive an unusual amount, the expensive high mileage tires may not provide the return you may be expecting.
