I am looking to purchase a new GPS for my husband for Christmas. We currently have a Garmin 60CX and like it. Previously we had a Garmin 60C and it would not hold the signal if I put it in my horn bag. I want to make sure I do not have that issue again. What does everyone think is the best out there for trail riding and why? Thanks for your input!

I have a Garmin 62stc and it is a very good GPS. I not only use it for work but also when I am out hunting and trail riding. It has a built in camera that will georeference any photos you take with it but I really don't use that option much as a real camera will take a better picture. I also have a temp probe with it they I will put in my pack or saddle bags and it will tell me the outside temp on my GPS. Another extremely convenient add on to consider is the OXhunt chip for the states that you will be riding in. These maps are indispensable in that tell you land ownership, and hunting units. These maps are way better then the standard maps that come on any of the GPS units.

I like the Garmin Etrex 30. The only complaint when I first got it was the instructions. After using it several times I am now familiar with it and really like it.

I"ve the Delorme Earthmate PN 60 and like it. What I really like is that they have a good topo map program that I can down load my routes to. The interface with the computer can be a little touchy. You can get a rechargeable battery for it or just use AA's. The rechargeable AA's don't last long so if you want to go rechargeable, get the one that Delorme sells.
