I have a 16.2 TB mare who doesn't have much trailering experience. Once I buy a trailer, it will take some time to teach her to load nicely and to relax. I am wondering is a standard 6'10" trailer is advisable? Or do I need something taller? I am on a tight budget, so finding a warm blood size may be tricky.

A lot of it has to do with how the carry their heads as well: we have an almost 7 yr 18h draft and most of the times his ears are lower than our 15yr 16.2 NSH. Most trailers are around 7' and that should be sufficinet(we have 7'8"): but if you look around you can find 7'3" +

As was stated, it really depends upon the horse's carriage. We have a 17 H horse that rides comfortably in a 7' high trailer. We have a 16 2 H horse that needs a 7 1/2 high trailer. Different breeds, different statures.

We have had 7' high trailers for many years, and recently purchased one that is 7 1/2' high. In the used market they are a little more rare to find, new ones are constructed in that height by most manufacturers.

A "Warm blood" trailer usually will provide your horse with more room and comfort. I know some owners who have outgrown trailers because of size limitations. It is less expensive to purchase one larger trailer than a couple of smaller ones.

Yes, and she tends to hold her head up high when she is nervous. Which is why I am thinking i need something taller. Maybe I will go measure how high she can get her head, lol!!!!
