| Hello - I am looking at buying a new LQ gooseneck trailer. On my shortlist were Hard, Elite and Merhow...Looking at pricing, I have a hard time justifying the incremental cost of an Elite or Hart vs a Merhow. Can anyone you give me feed-back on recent Merhow trailers? Or can someone give me a good reason why Elite and Hart's are so much more expensive (I am looking at a 40K difference for comparable features). |

Location: Waaaaay back Slaughter Hollow | A Merhow is no where in the same league as a Hart or an Elite. That is why there is so much of difference in price. The saying “you get what you pay for” pertains to horse trailers especially!
If you were to compare them side by side, you would see the difference.

Location: Waaaaay back Slaughter Hollow | If you can’t compare them side by side, take pictures and video to compare. Look at the quality of the materials, spacing between things like floor joists, and the quality of the LQ.
When you see such a huge difference in price, there is always a reason why! |

| Assuming you are meaning a new Merhow, the differences will be in the actual trailer shell. They do build their own interior, and do make it pretty. But it is a lower/middle range trailer whereas the Hart and Elite (and Cimarron & 4 Star and Bloomer) all focus on building a very high quality trailer and let another company build the interior. Yes, there probably is some inefficiency there, but you do have the very best trailer with whatever quality interior you wish to install.
And has been said, there is a lot of difference in the trailer. A lot. In the materials' quality. In the fit. In the welding. In the engineering. And the final finish. So in a 40K difference, some will be in the trailer build, and some in the interior build. And both will likely be a higher quality than you see in the Merhow. JMHO. |
