I change trucks to GMC 3500 HD 4x4. It sits higher than the Dodge 3500 2wd I had before. My trailer sits ok at the hitch in the bed but the ride height of the trailer needs to raised to not drag the back of the trailer or chancing damaging the bed of my truck. I understand I could extend the nose of the trailer but that will lower the rear of the trailer even more. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this issue without having to change trailers. My trailer is a 1992 Sooner 4 horse all aluminum.

Have you considered having the trailer blocked ( add a spacer between the axles and the trailer frame )? I had mine blocked 3" at a local trailer manufacturer when I started pulling with my peterbilt to solve the same problem that you have. Some people said that it will be harder for my mule to climb in. I feel that if he can't make the extra 3" he will have bigger problems in the mountains. I am careful ablout where i unload him to make sure he won't slip underneath the back of the trailer. Hope this makes sense. Good Luck

There are two practical solutions to keeping your trailer.
One... blocking, As Cajunmule already suggested.
two... getting a flatbed to avoid crushing the truck bed sides & tailgate.

My trailer rode a little nose high. 19" front and 13" rear. I got away with it, But always worried about excess weight on the rear axle and like you dragging the rear.
I had bent my axles back in 2010, So I was thinking of getting my axles replaced. Always worried about them bending again after having been straightened. As I talked to a Mobile Trailer Repair, Asking if he would put new axles on and block my trailer at the same time, He suggested I just get new axles with 22° Down vs up position on the torrison arms. Which I did.
Cost me $1400 to replace both axles. ( I also bumped them from 6000 to 7000 lbs) I got new brakes, and It lifted the rear of the trailer 6". So I am now 19" front and 19" rear. Horses don't seem to notice. I do notice the extra 6 when I have to climb in the back of the trailer.
