I am starting from scratch on a new conversion and have a AC/Propane fridge to install. Which type of fridge vent is best; Roof and side or 2 sides? My trailer is pretty rounded on the roof so I am not so sure that a roof mounted vent would fit on it, I am also concerned about drilling more holes in the roof. What as worked best for yall? I am installing a Dometic RM2612 fridge, pretty big fridge, the manual states either will work but I was wanting some personal experiences and suggestions please because I will be using propane quite a bit. Did yall use the plastic side vents or the metal? Any problems with water getting in? Thanks for any advise that you have.

The more air you move through, the better it cools no matter the power. So roof vents are generally much preferred. I believe the plastic side vents allow more air, so they are my favorite. Also very carefully follow the instructions about the compartment so as to not allow CO into the coach. Proper construction directs air over the coils and you get better performance. The cabinet and installation care are paramount on an RV fridge.

We found that two commercial vents installed in the sidewall were quite affective, and negated the need to cut a hole in the roof, which we were not pleased in performing. There has been no water issues during our storms.
