I read on another web forum that I belong to that Brenderups will no longer be sold in the US.  Is this true?  I went to the Brenderup web site and it is currently down. I am hoping this is coincidence and is NOT true, but I am afraid it will be.  I am not worried about buying a new Brenderup, since hopefully mine will last a long time.  But I AM concerned about being able to get parts if I need them in the future.  Anyone know the truth about this?  Thanks!

Brenderup will no longer be doing business or building trailers, in the USA. Some current dealers MAY still be importing trailers into the USA, but they will be passing on the extra costs to the buyer.

The dealer that I know... is selling the last trailer on her lot at cost. If you want more info or want to buy this trailer, please contact me off list.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info folks - that's really too bad, but these things happen. I am glad I have a Brenderup, I really love it. Now I hope that it stays in good shape and I don't have to replace it or anything on it for a looooooooong time!

that's too bad.  they seem to be decent trailers and everyone who has one really likes them.    wonder how hard it will be to get parts?     I remember several yrs. ago  when Silver Star went out of business (after a not so honest Georgia trailer dealer had my depo$it on a new one and never bothered to tell me the company had closed)  and that was way before the economy bottomed out.

Contacted Thule in Sweden who owns Brenderup. We truly regret that our partnership with Real Trailers has come to an end. For better understanding of the situation, please let me explain our horse trailer setup in the US market. The manufacturing operations with Real Trailers Inc. was based on supplies of trailer building kits from our factory in Europe, however a great part of the final product was based on US sourcing of essential materials such as, roofs, side panels, light system etc. Therefore Real Trailers completed the manufacturing of the trailers as vehicle alterer. Unfortunately we cannot replace this expertise and operation through a new franchisee or distributor, nor are we in a position to meet the necessities supplying fully assembled trailers into the market. We are aware that this situation has created concern among dealers and owners of Brenderup trailers as regards to spare parts supply and any future claim issues, should any such appear. However, we aim to establish spare part supplies directly to former dealers of Real Trailers Inc. and will keep warranty service running out of Europe. The spare parts and warranty service will cover parts supplied originally from Thule Trailers in Europe. All parts originally sourced in North America need to be sourced locally I hope that the above explains and brings understanding to the situation.

I was shocked. It's a great trailer with ideas I hope other manufactures try like the torsion axles with shock absorbers, toe in on the axles and a parking brake. They had a monoply in the US for Brenderup, if I had the money I would have invested in them. Really sad if the recession turns around this year. I don't think parts will be problem, axles, bearings, brakes and all long life, you might need hinges or latches some day if you use them daily.

I hope they can come back someday, 29 years of building them in Texas, 59 years in Denmark. A great trailer. I'd buy a new one if I was in the market.

I was looking at buying a Brenderup this spring, but with the demise of the manufacturing in North America Iwas not sure anymore. While surfing the internet for options I came across an alternative trailer that has a lot of the benefits of the Brenderup and more.  It’s all aluminum and as light as the Brenderup with the design and trailer being made and build in Heart of North America.

Meanwhile I had a tour of the manufacturing site and I am very impressed.  The internet only has a press release out on http://www.safrhorsetrailer.com/ but down the line I feel that it will be a good replacement for the Brenderup.

Big difference between Fautras and Brenderup. And I don't mean just France and Denmark. Their inside step instead of ramp and the remote latching butt bar are unique. The Fautras I exaimed at the Western States Horse Expo, was interesting but dramaticly lighter built than Brenderup. It may develope into a contender, but now I'm not impressed with structure.

Brenderup has over the years had Europien competition that imported trailers and then dropped out. Brenderup US had an advantage as they only imported the floor and chassis. The walls, roof, coupler, jack etc. were built in the USA.

Fautras has the same problem, bringing over a complete trailer and all the costs. I wish them luck with a few improvements that the Brenderup dealers are suggesting. I'm still in mourning over Brenderup Real Trailers. Now if Fautras would buy out Real Trailers, get their US suppliers on board and continue Building Brenderup including the new RampDoor on the Baron, I'd help anyway I could.

I just received pricing from them... "Our price range for FAUTRAS 2 horses goes from $13,600 + tax to $19,000. The Provan Premium with option tack locker is normally $15,850 but we made a launching offer for $14,900 at the Equine Affair. We have other versions of the Provan depending on your budget. Let me know." I let them know...NO THANKS...

It's going to be interesting at Equine Affaire in Ohio next month. Fautras and the new trailer Safr will both be there looking for Brenderup buyers. I'll be there giving you the play by play in the Bricker Annex.

Sorry to hear that...if worse comes to worse you may have to have a fabricator make one for you...

If you can remove the frame, Lexan is an ideal replacement for trailer windows. It can be cut and shaped using basic wood working tools. This puts it well within the realm of most DIYers.

We are in the process of having a window made to fit the side bubble vent window same size with the safety bars. It will be a slider flush mount sense we already have all the other windows. We are the manufacture of the fiberglass roofs. Their are other manufactures that are looking into building the Brenderup trailers. If we can help anyone let us know.Jerry SmithCowtown Sleepers
