Hey,

I just wanted to let everybody know about what I found!  I had been looking at getting a portable corral panel for my trailer since I ride a stallion.  I was afraid of the ones I had seen on the Internet due to how light weight they were.  I went to the Utah Horse Expo and found Trail CorralTM, the answer to my search!  Trail CorralTM attaches to your trailer, is made of steel, easy to set up, no lugging or heavy lifting and can very sturdy!  After I bought my Trail CorralTM, I took one of my horses out that is very nervous when by himself, he usually paws and digs a hole when tied.  I was so amazed, he was wonderful, no pawing or digging.  He was calm and enjoyed being able to move around in his 12 x 12 corral stall.  I also took  my stallion to a show, thank goodness I had the Trail CorralTM, a  mare got loose and headed straight for the trailer.  I think Trail Corral is the best horse product since bell boots and hay nets!  I like mine so much that I'm now a rep so  Check it out at www.trailcorral.net or email me at  trailcorral@gmail.com

Check out my stallion at http://www.trailcorral.net/ under Stallion Services!Stallion Services

Ditto.  Doesn't look like a bad product, but this website is supported by paid ads.

Can't find any pricing info on your site, either.  Why would you start promoting your site without this?   People are lazy, might not contact you for more info.

I have not been responding for very long. I have been reading this forum for many years.  By making your 2nd post an ad Looks bad to me. The free flow of information made me want to be a part of this, not making a profit without doing the work. Call HTW pay for an ad make us respect you. Or get lost.

I can't find your add either!

On the other hand, I don't think I would want something hanging off the side of my trailer going down the road. Mine is 8' wide anyway with minimal fenders and drop down windows on both sides

I built my own potable panels out of sec.40 pvc and they are expandable and fit nicely in the bed of the truck or in the first stall of my trailer. and only weighs about 10 to 15 lbs per panel, so it is really easy for the better half to set up

I don't think I'd like my panels being attached to my trailer.  Last thing I want is a horse getting hung up and ripping off the siding...or choosing to roll right next to it and kicking the side!

Hey Sharon, Thank you for reading my post, I think is great that the people from the web site are protective of it but I would hope that it would be a kind place to post ads. Dave is building my web page and will be running my ads for Trail Corral. My web designer, bless her heart, that has been working on my page has had a major medical and lost of life experience and could not finish my web or ads for the Internet, which is why I was up so late last night trying to locate the webs that would be good to be on and a web designer. I am sorry if you were upset about my post but as I learn the web do's and don'ts and Dave gets my web stuff done, hopefully I wont get trashed so bad. I am by far not lazy as I do Open Hearts and am on call for emergency cases very often. I help out at local horse shows and volunteer for community events. I am not happy to spend so much time learning the web but I believe in Trail Corral as a product that helps keep my horse safe and more comfortable and wanted to let others know about it! Trail Corral was started after a barrel racing horse was badly injured by a horse that had gotten loose at an event. Thank you so much for your time and thoughts, Emily

I understand your concerns, but after having a friends horse (at an endurance race) try to lay down while tied to the trailer and cutting it's artery, (they couldn't get the rope cut), I feel that this is the best solution to a situation that will always have risk.  Every time you haul a horse, there are risk.  The Trail Corral has certainly protected my stallion and gelding from loose horses, plus they are more relaxed than when tied to hot trailer.  Thank you for your thoughts.  Have a wonder day!

The set up I built for myself only cost me $125.00 plus2 hours of my time.... No metal, nothing hagging off the side of the trailer either.... Mine is 5 panels that are 6' long that will extend to almost 12' long and either makes 2 12'x12 stalls or a 12'x36' stall or a nice size round stall.

Hey Tom-Tom,

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I am just getting my feet wet with forums and cyberspace.

The 3 panel system is $750.00 (plus S&H)(retail $899) which you can put on the side or off the back of your trailer.  With the Backdoor Style you have to be able to put one panel on one side and 2 the otherside.  A 5 panel system is $1150 ($750 + $400)(plus S&H).  This make a very large corral. Extra panels are $200 each.  Some people that have 2 horses are getting 6 panels and making 2 (12x12) stalls.

I hope that this helps.  I will post the configurations later tonight when I get back home.  Please bear with me until the web is up and finished, but I will send or post more pictures.

Thanks so much for  your interest!

I hope that you have a wonderfully safe and happy weekend!

We are going to a mounted shooting Sunday and was going to set them up, I will get some pictures in the trailer and set up so I should be able to post them Sunday night.....

I just used 1 1/4" for the larger part and 1" for the small end so it will slide inside the large end.   I made my first set just over 4' tall with top rail and center rail.  Going to build a set next week with 3 rails for a friend.  Will be a little stronger and just a touch more weight.

Hey hogtownboss,I hope you have a great day at the mounted shoot! I would love to do that and my horse is really good about not spooking but finding the time to practice is a problem. I had a lady buy 2 Trail Corrals for her horse trailer today because she had neck surgery and is not suppose to lift (I told her she shouldn't be riding either (after her neck surgery) but she said she was just going to haul her horses and sit and watch at the shows...anyway...The things I like the most about this corral system is the no lifting, you don't have pack in then out of your trailer,(and then back in). You DON'T USE A BUNGY CORD TO SECURE to your trailer (IT SCARES ME TO SEE THINGS TIED WITH BUNGY CORDS GOING DOWN THE ROAD). It takes less than 3 min. to set it up. If my stallion will stay in and not tear up anything with mares tied 4-5 ft away...I'm happy! Oh, the other thing I like is that the legs are adjustable for uneven ground and that is important anywhere you go camping. You can also do several different configurations. I will up load some pictures of the configuration on my album listed under Trail Corral on this page. I hope Dave's group will get my web up and going soon so it will have this info on it.You can watch the video of how easy and quick they are to set up at http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=gmail&rls=gm&q=horsetrailcorr... You can search horsetrailcorral on Youtube if you don't want to type all that stuff in.Good luck on your Shoot! Look forward to seeing your invention.ThanksEmily

Here is a couple of picutres of my home brewed set up for $125.00.  Makes the better half happy, so I am happy. for now.  I am putting a pencil to it this week so I can make some adjustments as far as making them a little more compact.  These are not real good pictures, (camera got wet at the shoot) and missing the picture showing panels closed in the trailer.  Remove 2 hitch pins and extend the panels out to right at 12' long (just a touch over 6' closed)  I just set them up real quick to give you and idea.   Might not work for everybody, but works great for us!

But as you can see, I like the flashy sides of our trailer and still not going to hang anything off of it.  Plus ours is 8' wide and that would mean having panels hanging out past the tires and wheels. Sorry this won't work for me!

Hey Hogtownboss,Your very creative and obviously talented! I like your corral. Your wife is very lucky to have a handy and talented husband! Thank you for taking the time to send me your pictures. There are several other PVC pipe corral systems out on the market that I have looked at, however, since I ride a stallion I decided I wanted something more secure for him, but this would work for a lot of horses, I would think.Trail Corral is made out of steel and the corners are secured with steel interlocking bars that keep it from being pushed around. The adjustable legs really help on the uneven ground. I personally like not having to lug the panels around. Trail Corrals are secured with pens and not bungees' which is more secure than some of the competition. Here in UT, I was told that the PVC pipes freeze and then crack if a horse hits them...so I'm not sure if that would work up here. The trailer below is and 8 foot wide. An 8ft wide trailer can have 3 panels(12x12) on the side and stay within the guidelines for width. This trailer has a large awning which is nice too.

I found a set on the net that are offered for over $600.00, but like I added to start with I still do not need anything hanging off the side of my nice little flashy trailer and the pvc panels I made only weigh around 10 to 15 lbs each so they are really easy for anyone to move around.

A couple of places I go will allow portable pens but not connected to your trailer.  So this really only works if you are in a place with a wide spot that will allow panels right next to the trailer.  I rarely go to a perfect set up - this would maybe work better for shows than for trail riding.

The good thing about my portable pvc panels is I can put them anywhere I need too...  Does not have to be next to the trailer and with 4 panels I can have about a 12x12 stall or with 7 panels I can have 2 12x12 stalls.  The way i built mine they make stronger 12x12 stalls than they do when I use them in a large pen, if I use a large pen I either add a couple of step in post on the corners or go to the trailer for a larger pen when possible..

Hogtown boss.. i love your corral and wouldn't mind some extra panels.. however, one of my mares likes to stand on the rungs and has put her foot thru the panels a couple of times.. Now she has to be tied to the trailer until I can train her to the electric corral.....My other mare doesn't do the electric corral and does great with corral panels... Sheesh!.. It's always something, isn't it?!

I am drawing up a set with 3 rails that are going to be about 5' long closed and almost 10' long open. I also am adding a tab to the inside of the ones I have now so I can add an electric tape fence just for a little extra back off power incase.

We'll THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I messed up and let the better half read it last night to see what she though and she said "I don't care what that means, when are you going to build me the 3 rail you mentioned"!

So now have opened up a can of worms and have to build her the 3 rail...

Silly question, but if you don't carry these on the side of your trailer, where DO you carry them?

I am studying your photos to see if I can do this myself.

There are a lot of different corral systems out on the market.  No system will fit every persons needs.  Any polypropylene material will brake down after prolonged sun exposure and will crack easier with freezing temperature exposure.   I decided to invest in a steel product that will hold up to heat or cold.  I like being able to set up the corral in less than 3 min. I don't have to lug heavy or light panels around. I can also customize it to be detachable.

So it is good to think about what you need in a corral, what is most important to you(safety being my biggest issue) and hope that you make the right decision, Lord knows I have a ton of stuff at the barn that doesn't work like I  thought it would!

I feel much better knowing that I have something that is secure to put my stallion in (he will play every chance he gets)!

Many Happy and Safe Trail Rides to ALL!

PS http://www.trailcorral.net/ is up but under construction by Horse Trailer World...just ask Dave

If you are asking about mine, I either carry them in the first stall when hauling 2 horses or if I haul 3 horses I put them in or on the bad of the truck I am using. On my flatbed, the ones I built here in the pictures fit perfect between the cab and gooseneck, in my pick up I stack them long ways between the inner fended and gooseneck.

Yes, after a while the extremely COLD weateher will take a over on the pvc, (we have had misters in the barn since 2000 made out of light weight pvc not the heavy sc40 and still no problems with cold weather) so the sc40 should last a while. But here in Texas the cold weather is not an issue and since I keep these covered when not in use the sun is not that big a deal either. The great thing about them is they are light weight, easy to move and do not have to worry about scratching the side of your trailer or if you had a steel trailer will not have to worry about rust starting after scratching the sides up.

Linda Y, If you are "studying" about the PVC panels that I built, I will send you a parts list of what it took to build mine. I used 1 1/4" sch40, 1" sch40 for the main stuff. The 1" slides right inside the 1 1/4" just perfect. Was thinking about trying to build one nxt week using 2" sch40, just to see how much heavyier they are.

My horse would "depaint" my trailer..... Great set up. One question, what if they were to lie down by the trailer and possibly get their feet/legs under it? I worry.......sometimes too much.

That would be great!
Several years ago, I bought a plan for making a PVC corral off eBay. It is also very neat, but I like the way yours 'folds up' better, I think. Their's had a lot more parts, so would be heavier, too.

The owners of the late, great, View This Jet barrel champion could explain about what happens when a horse lays down and rolls too close to the trailer.  So could (one of) his veterinarian and farrier.

Keep the great ideas coming, everyone!

Thats one great thing about the pvc panels I built! They do not have to attach to the trailer and they are not steel. The only metal I have is the 2" hitch pin I use to lock them inplace when extended. Any horse could get into trouble when rolling by the trailer no matter what if any panels are used....

I'd love to try mounted shooting.  I only have one horse that MIGHT let me do it.  I have one (a retired LE horse none the less) that won't even let you near him with a rifle and bolts if someone shoots to close to him.  And I've only got a 22 so its more of a pop than a big bang.

For those of us who love our horses and have them as partners to enjoy God's beautiful nature, we cringe at the thoughts of our horses/or/owners getting hurt. As a Open Heart and Emergency Room nurse, I've seen way too many horrible accidents that just happened...but I didn't stop fox hunting after Christopher Reeve's got injured. I did tried to be more cautious. I've witness trailer floors giving way and a horse falling through it(and not be able to the driver to pull over); horses being cut out of a trailer after flipping; my friends horse cutting an artery after trying to lay down when tied to a trailer; I've seen a horse with his guts hanging out impelled on metal tee post(my friend had to put him down--it was her state champion western pleasure horse). You never know, you just try to keep them as safe as you can and be safe yourself. The other day, I helped catch a horse that got loose at a rodeo, transfer trucks were flying by. I was just horrified to think of that horse getting run over. On a lighter note... I have talked with Bev Gray who had the first (Trail Corral system) built in 1998. She still uses it and she told me that she as not had any problems with her horses getting hung up, chewing or scratching up her trailer. She stated that she has put it through the test and that she likes the improvements that have evolved over the years to create the New Trail Corral. I didn't know who she was until I saw her web, I think she has probably rode more than I have so it was very interesting to talk with her about her experiences. You can see her accomplishments at www.bevgrayusa.com .  How did your Mounted shoot go Boss?32 Happy & Safe Trails to all!

The better half done WELL!  This was actually her second shoot and placed 3rd out of 6 or 8 in her class and mid 20's out of 40 overall!  We are really lucky with the little gray 1/4 horse mare she is using.  We bought her from our vet about 6 years ago after the original owner could not pay the vet bill (from having a t-post in her hind end)  This mare is 11 now and is only 14.2hh @ 1100lbs, she runs barrels, poles, all playday events, working cowhorse, shorting, competitive trail challanges and now we have added mounted shooting to her list.  Not bad at all for a $1000 investment.  The best thing of all you can do all of the above on her then turn around and put ANYBODY (young or old non horse person) on her and she will take care of them!  And that is PRICELESS!

Will have the parts list ready on Sunday.

Here is 2 pictures of her 1st shoot at a trot. (she is the second horse from the right, the short wide one)

Here is my parts list for a 2 rail panel. This is enough to build 1 panel with a little leftover of the 1" to start a second panel.

2- 10' stick of sch40 pvc in 1 1/4"

2- 10' stick of sch40 pvc in 1" 1- 90* 1 1/4" (corner)

1- 90* 1" (corner) 1- 1" T 2- 1 1/4" T 1- 1 1/4" X or 4 way

2- 1 1/4" end caps

1- 1" end cap 1- can of pvc primer 1- can of pvc glue

2- 2" hitch pins

I cut 1 stick of the 1 1/4" in half (5') and the other stick in 2' sections, then the 1" I cut 1 in half (5') the other in 2 3/8" sections. I found it is better to put the legs together first because the 90* and T'S and 4 ways must stay straight!

To build a 3 rail panel just add the following

1- 1/4" X (4 way)

1- 1 1/4" T 1- 1" T

1- 10' stick of sch40 pvc in 1 1/4"

1- 10' stick of sch40 pvc in 1"

1- 2" hitch pin

I adjusted the legs on the 3 rail to 16" on the 1 1/4" side and 16 1/4" on the 1" side, long rails are still the same 5' long. So you should still have a 4' panel. I am building a set of 3 rail panels this weekend for a friend and I will post some pictures.

Hi Terri, Its El Paso Bob. we will be shooting in Atresia New Mexico on the 20th and 21st of June at the Artesis Fairgrounds arena. Come by and try it, I have extra guns and holsters you can try. Or you can shoot off one of my horses. I promise you will love it. Its 114 miles from Ruidoso.
